Cotton Patch Gold Mine
Pan for gold and shop and shop at the general store. Onsite camping.


Reed Gold Mine

This is the richest gold mining area east of the Mississippi. Try your luck panning for gold or enjoy a tour underground at Reed Gold Mine. State historic site, where gold was first discovered in US.

Gaddy Covered Bridge
NC's newest covered bridge. Located in Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge, the bridge was built to serve as a blind to observe waterfowl.

Thomasville's "Big Chair"
The world's largest chair.


Jumping Off Rock
The unmarked spot provides a beautiful vista. Jumping off of the rocks is NOT recommended!

Seagrove Area
The Seagrove area is one of the largest communities of potters with the longest continual history of pottery making in the United States. Today visitors can explore the rural landscape by back roads and visit the potters in their workshops and studios, to witness the Seagrove potters continuing the tradition of making pots. The area is home to more than 100 potters who offer a full spectrum of pottery and ceramic art. With a diversity of talents, Seagrove has something to offer both the serious collector and the casual buyer. The Seagrove area offers the visitor an opportunity to learn about North Carolina’s ongoing pottery culture.

Caraway Speedway
Caraway Speedway is located in Central North Carolina, in the small town of Asheboro.


Rockingham Dragway
Auto/motorcycle drag racing.

Pinehurst Harness Track
Freshmen trotters and pacers have their first racing experiences before a crowd of over 3,000 people. This mile long track give horsemen the opportunity to remain in the mid-south longer. Come enjoy tailgate parties and a great afternoon under the Carolina blue sky.

Oakboro Cruise-In
See cars, trucks, shop, eat, etc. . Open every 4th Fri. 5 p.m. to ??? The Cruise-In has been featured in Car Craft Magazine, Nomad Magazine and a documentary, Burnout, was created in 2005 by a Charlotte-based movie-maker. Local shops and restaurants stay open late the evening of the event for added enjoyment. The area features family-style restaurants, upscale dining, a sub and pizza shop, Mexican restaurant, antiques and hobby shop.

North Carolina Zoological Park
The nation’s largest walk-through natural-habitat zoo.  Located about 75 miles west of Raleigh in Asheboro, N.C. Zoo is nationally recognized as one of the nation’s finest zoos.
